Kansas Officials: Prepare for Winter

(Flickr Photo by DJ Singh)State officials are warning Kansans this week to prepare for winter weather before it hits the state. Sharon Watson, with the Adjutant General’s Department, says now is the time to prepare a vehicle emergency kit with items including blankets, a cell phone charger and a snow shovel. Watson says it's important to be aware of the weather conditions along all parts of a driving route when setting out on a trip, because conditions can change quickly.

Watson says it's a good idea to prepare another separate emergency kit for the home. It should contain enough food and water for three days and any special items family members need, like medications or baby formula.
