Kansas Democrats hold annual "Demofest"

Kansas Democrats gathered in Wichita over the weekend for their annual Demofest gathering. Many were optimistic that Democrats could take more seats in both the Senate and House after several conservative lawmakers lost their primary races to more moderate candidates. Ma’Ko’Quah (MAH-ko-kwah) Abigail Jones with Kansas Young Democrats thinks her party could even win over some Republicans who are frustrated with Governor Sam Brownback’s tax policies.


As moderate Republicans have gained favor over more conservative lawmakers, Democrats are looking to moderates in their own party to secure more votes.
