Fort Leavenworth Soldiers Run to Honor 9/11 Victims

A soldier based out of Fort Leavenworth says he has always set aside time on the anniversary of 9/11 to remind himself and his soldiers of what happened that day. This year, Sergeant First Class Mitchell Vasquez and his platoon of military police in Iraq are doing something more to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Rebecca Steed, a spokeswoman for Fort Leavenworth, spoke about the platoon's plan.

Sergeant Vasquez had planned for soldiers to run 2,977 miles - one mile for every victim of 9/11. As of now, participants in the run have logged well over 3000 miles and are still going strong. The run will end on September 11.
