Analysts Look Ahead to Brownback Priorities for 2011

Political analysts and others who keep an eye on state policy are pondering what Governor-elect Sam Brownback's legislative priorities will be for his first year in office. Washburn University political science professor Bob Beatty (BAY-tee) says the state's overall economy and shoring up the dwindling population in western Kansas are sure to make it onto the agenda...but beyond that, it's not clear how much Brownback will be addressing social issues.

Beatty says it will also be interesting to watch the new governor's decisions on issues such as attempts to repeal the statewide smoking ban.
