After Vote Delayed, Kansas Senator Moran Announces Opposition to Health Care Bill

Republican Kansas Senator Jerry Moran says he doesn’t support the health care overhaul bill in the U.S. Senate. That comes after leaders in the Senate announced Tuesday that they are delaying a vote on the bill over concerns that it didn’t have enough support.

Moran initially was one of the undecided lawmakers. Now, he says the Senate bill wasn't right for Kansas and he would not have supported it.

"The Senate healthcare bill missed the mark for Kansans and therefore did not have my support. I am pleased with the decision to delay the vote – now is the time to take a step back and put the full legislative process to work," said Moran in a statement.

The other Kansas senator, Republican Pat Roberts, initially came out in support of the Senate bill, saying it wasn’t perfect, but they needed to move the process forward.
