A large tornado touched down in western Kansas last (SUN) night. The wedge-shaped twister rolled through a rural part of Wichita County but didn't cause any injuries or damage. Even so, the tornado was a reminder of just how dangerous the weather can get this time of year.
That's Brian Barjenbruch (BAR-jen-brook), with the National Weather Service in Topeka. He advises all Kansans to be weather-prepared with an emergency kit and a disaster plan, especially this time of year.
Last year, Kansas recorded 126 tornadoes.
