One Person Dies in Winter Storm Car Crash
Topeka, Kan. (AP) - Kansas authorities have reported numerous slide-offs and one fatal wreck as a winter storm brought a mixture of freezing rain and snow to the area. The Kansas Turnpike Authority says one person died Saturday morning when the driver of a pickup truck attempted to pass other vehicles and lost control near the Haysville/Derby interchange.

Inmate Sentenced in Lansing Prison Escape
Lansing, Kan. (AP) - An inmate has been sentenced to just over 10 years in prison for escaping from a Kansas prison in May. Fifty-eight-year-old Randy Ridens was sentenced Friday in Leavenworth County for aggravated escape from custody. Reports say he could have been released as early as this month on his previous burglary and theft charges.

Reward Offered in KS Boy's 1999 Disappearance
El Dorado, Kan. (AP) - An anonymous donor has put up a $50,000 cash reward toward solving the 1999 disappearance of a southeast Kansas boy. Adam Joseph Herrman was 11 when he vanished from his adoptive family's mobile home in Butler County. The reward was announced Friday.

John Eisenhower, Historian and Ike's Son, dies
Washington (AP) - The family of President Dwight D. Eisenhower says his son, 91-year-old John S.D. Eisenhower, has died. The retired brigadier general and military historian had resided in Maryland. No cause was given for his death Saturday. He is survived by his second wife, Joanne, son David and daughters Anne, Susan and Mary.
