A number of agencies, including Safe Kids Kansas and the Kansas Department of Transportation, are behind a program designed to raise awareness and save lives. It's called "Buckle Up for a Buck." Cherie Sage is with Safe Kids. She says that if your vehicle is stopped, and everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seatbelt, the driver will be given a dollar. But Sage says there is one catch.
Sage says the campaign is running now through September 8th in nearly 60 cities across the state. Sage says the goal is 100 percent seat belt compliance...but as of right now, only 83 percent of Kansans wear their seat belts.
