Westar Energy has installed about 52 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state of Kansas, but are they really getting a lot of use? Spokesman Shane Batchelder says the answer is yes...but not by most people who drive fully electric cars.
He said that for drivers to use the stations, they'd have to park there for several hours. He says that's why most people who own cars that rely fully on electric power charge their vehicles at home.

Electric Charging Stations Offer Fuel for Free
Vehicles that run entirely on electric power can be charged up for free at Westar Energy's charging stations in Kansas. Westar spokesman Shane Batchelder says the company is participating in a pilot program to see who's using the stations, and how often.
Batchelder says that at this point, many electric car owners are not making use of the charging stations since it's more convenient to charge the vehicles at home, overnight.
