Q: On its website, this university claims to have taught the first typing class in Kansas – way back in 1895. Can you name the school?

A: Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence
Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence traces its history back to 1884 when it first opened as the United States Indian Industrial Training School. According to its website, Haskell offered the very first first touch-typing class in Kansas in 1895. Touch-typing is the art of using a typewriter without looking at the keys. (You know, finding “home key row” with your hands and relying on muscle memory – rather than eyesight – to type.)
These days, Haskell is known less for typing skills and more for its many other attributes; including a class that specializes in building rockets. This class, led by instructor Lucas Miller, has won numerous awards for rocket design, construction and performance at various competitions.
