Q: Former Oklahoma State basketball coaching legend Eddie Sutton celebrated his 77th birthday on Tuesday. In what Kansas town was he born, back in 1936? (Incidentally, it’s also the hometown of KPR health reporter Bryan Thompson, but that won’t likely help you answer this question!)

A: Bucklin (in southwest Kansas)

(via Wikimedia)Former Oklahoma State basketball coach Eddie Sutton was born in Bucklin, Kan., on March 12, 1936. Sutton spent 36 years coaching a number of Division I basketball programs - including Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State (his alma mater) and the University of San Francisco.

Sutton became the first coach to take four schools to the NCAA tournament. He reached the Final Four with Arkansas in 1978 and Oklahoma State in 1995 and 2004. He’s one of the few coaches in men's college basketball to rack up more than 800 victories in his career. Sutton retired as head coach at Oklahoma State in 2006. The basketball court at OSU’s Gallagher-Iba Arena is officially named Eddie Sutton Court.
