WICHITA, Kan. (AP) —Wichita State has accepted an invitation to join the American Athletic Conference. Conference spokesman Bill Potter says the presidents of the conference's 12 member schools voted unanimously yesterday (FRI) to admit the school in all sports but football and the school accepted the invitation. The school, which is currently a member of the Missouri Valley Conference, is a powerhouse in men's basketball. AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco said. “The University has an exceptionally strong tradition of success in men’s basketball and baseball. The addition of Wichita State in basketball and Olympic sports extends our Conference’s national footprint, enhances our national profile, and strengthens our position as a leader in intercollegiate athletics.”
