Westar Energy residential customers in Kansas will see an increase of about $4 on average in the “Transmission Delivery Charge” on their monthly bills after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the settlement. The increase will bring Westar an additional $25 million in yearly income. Westar Energy spokeswoman Gina Penzig says the extra money will be used to improve the delivery of power and that will save customers money over the long term.
Penzig says improved transmission delivery saved Kansas residential customers about $50 million last year.
