Rural Hospitals Acquire Cerner Electronic Records Technology

About two dozen community hospitals in Kansas and Nebraska have signed up to use Cerner Corporation’s electronic health technology. Many of the small hospitals are faced with Medicare reimbursement cuts and reduced payments for the uninsured. They say access to Cerner’s sophisticated electronic record system with help them keep their doors open. Heartland Health Monitor’s Dan Margolies reports.

Heartland Health Monitor is a reporting collaboration focused on health issues and their impact in Kansas and Missouri. The partners — Kansas Public Radio , KCUR Public Radio, KCPT Public Television and KHI News Service -- strive to bring listeners and readers timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of health and health-related issues.
