Result of Republican Senate Primaries Could Hinge on Voter Turnout

Photo from
A handful of incumbent Republican state senators are facing primary challenges in Kansas, and the leadership of the Senate hangs in the balance. The goal of some Republicans in Kansas is to defeat the current moderate leadership in the Senate. Turnout in primaries is often low. Washburn University Political Science Professor Mark Peterson says whichever candidates can turnout their supporters will probably come out on top.

All 40 seats in the Kansas Senate are up for election this year. Around 30 of the seats have contested Republican races. Tomorrow (TUE) is the deadline for Kansans to register to vote, or change party affiliation, in time for the August 7th primary.
