(Photo by Stephen Koranda)The Kansas Board of Regents today (THUR) finalized an agreement on how much money to request for the coming fiscal year. The spending plan includes $47 million in additional funding for universities. That includes a 1 percent pay raise for all university employees. Officials at the state’s universities had requested nearly $200 million in additional funding. Regent Kenny Wilk says the possibility of tight state budgets or deficits in the coming years required board members to scale back those proposals.
The request will now go to Governor Sam Brownback for consideration. He will provide a budget proposal to legislators early next year.
