KS Gov Marks Anniversary of March on Washington

Governor Brownback speaking at the event in Topeka. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Governor Sam Brownback today (WED) signed a proclamation commemorating the 50 th anniversary of the March on Washington. The crowd gathered at the event in Topeka heard a rendition of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, which was delivered at the 1963 march. Governor Brownback called King a prophet.


The event took place at the Brown v. Board historic site in Topeka. Brownback noted the importance of the landmark legal case to the national civil rights movement.
