KS Driver's License Offices to Add Operating Hours

A DMV office in Topeka. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)The busiest driver's license offices in Kansas will now be open on Mondays, starting a week from today (MON). Jeannine Koranda, spokesperson for the Kansas Department of Revenue, says that officials have noticed shorter lines after trying the expanded hours during the summer.

This year, more than 5,300 customers came through the Mission and Wichita offices between July 8 and August 19. Koranda says this is partly due to the number of people seeking ID for concealed-carry gun licenses. To help staff the additional hours, the Andover and Johnson County offices will be hiring more workers. The Department of Revenue will also be adding a second driver's license office in Derby. The department is also going to begin an evening hours pilot program this fall at the Mission and Olathe offices - they will be open until 7:45 p.m.
