Telemedicine services offer a way to provide health care to patients without actually being in the room with them. Proponents see it as a chance to improve access to care—especially in rural areas—and to improve efficiency. But there’s one big obstacle: insurance may not pay as much for those services. Bryan Thompson, of the Kansas News Service, explores how that may be changing.

Bryan Thompson is a reporter for the Kansas News Service, a collaboration covering health, education, and politics across the state.

The Kansas News Service produces essential enterprise reporting, diving deep and connecting the dots in tracking the policies, issues and and events that affect the health of Kansans and their communities. The team is based at KCUR and collaborates with public media stations and other news outlets across Kansas.
