House Approves Bill Reducing School Spending Restrictions

The Kansas House has given first-round approval to a bill that would allow school districts to replace lost state dollars with money earmarked for other purposes. Because of a tight state budget, education funding will be taking a cut in Kansas. As KPR Statehouse reporter Stephen Koranda tells us, some lawmakers hope giving schools the option to spend cash reserves in different ways can help them weather the cuts.
