Woman Dies After Brutal Attack in Wichita Park

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Police say that a mother of four has died just more than a week after she was sexually assaulted and set on fire at a Wichita park. Police Lieutenant James Espinoza told The Eagle newspaper that the 36-year-old victim died yesterday (SAT) morning at a Wichita hospital. Twenty-six-year-old Cornell McNeal is being held on $250,000 bond in the case.

Chanute Man Dies in One-Vehicle Accident

CHANUTE, Kan. (AP) — A man has died after his pickup truck went off the side of a bridge in southeast Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as 51-year-old Jack Cheyney of Chanute. The patrol says the accident happened around yesterday (SAT) morning.

Driver Dies While Fleeing Authorities

MULVANE, Kan. (AP) — A fleeing driver has died after crashing in the south-central Kansas town of Mulvane. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Jason Minson of Udall was attempting to elude officers with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office early yesterday (SAT) when he lost control of the car he was driving. The vehicle went over a curb and struck a fence and a tree.

Body Identified, Investigation Continues

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — Missouri authorities are investigating the death of a Kansas man whose body was found inside a burned portable restroom. Jackson County authorities have identified the victim as 30-year-old Jackson Guzman of Shawnee. A Jackson County park ranger found the body Thursday night in the parking lot of the Frank White Junior Softball Complex near Longview Lake in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
