Gov Urging Kansans to Stay Home

(Flickr Photo by Aaron Molina)Governor Sam Brownback is urging Kansans to take precautions during the winter storm. The governor has closed executive branch offices in Shawnee County today (TUE) and given department heads the authority to close offices in other areas. Brownback is also asking Kansans to stay off the roads and avoid travel if at all possible.

Kansas Secretary of Transportation Mike King says the high winds expected with this storm will make clearing the roads especially difficult.

Kansas Adjutant General Lee Tafanelli says the National Guard will have crews available with military vehicles to transport needed workers to facilities like hospitals.
