Abortion Rights Supporters Gather at Statehouse

A flier brought by the advocates who lobbied at the Statehouse. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Abortion rights supporters gathered at the Kansas Statehouse today (MON) to lobby against abortion legislation. Two dozen students from across the state came to meet with lawmakers, including Emma Halling (HALL-ing). She’s a junior attending the University of Kansas. She says she’s urging lawmakers to oppose bills that could affect reproductive health services for women.

Legislators could consider a package of abortion bills that didn’t pass both chambers last session. Last month, more than 1,000 abortion opponents gathered at the Statehouse to mark the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion.
