A new education advisor to the governor’s office has been selected. It's a role the administration has been without in recent years. Lt. Governor Jeff Colyer says former Kansas Education Commissioner Diane DeBacker started the job this week.
DeBacker’s job will be housed at the Department of Commerce. It will emphasize connections among schools and the industries that hope one day to hire their students. Colyer says he has education initiatives he would like to pursue as governor -- but he is mum on the details. It was actually Governor Sam Brownback who made the announcement today (TUE) about DeBacker’s appointment as he awaits Senate confirmation to an ambassadorship in the Trump administration.
