Kansas Governor: Medicaid Expansion Would Be “Foolish”

Brownback says expanding Medicaid now would be pointless.

Advocates of expanding KanCare -- the state's privatized Medicaid program ­– say they now have the votes to do it.  But Governor Sam Brownback made it clear in his State of the State speech last (TUE) that he’s still opposed to the idea. 


  

Brownback says Congress will soon repeal the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, which is connected to Medicaid expansion.  Organizations that advocate for Medicaid expansion have urged the Kansas congressional delegation to delay repealing Obamacare until a detailed replacement bill is in place.
