That comes after the Kansas Senate today (FRI) blocked debate on a smaller tax-cutting compromise. Senate President Steve Morris said the plan would have cost the state too much.
The bill Brownback says he’ll sign will cut income tax rates. It will also eliminate income taxes for more than 190,000 businesses in Kansas. Supporters of the bill say it will spur economic growth. Opponents say it will create big budget problems, requiring cuts to state services. Legislative staffers estimate the plan could create more than $2 billion in budget deficits in the coming years.
