Group Criticizes Governor's Tax Plan

Terry Forsyth, with the Working Kansas Alliance, speaks at an event Wednesday at the Statehouse. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Opponents of Governor Sam Brownback's plan to cut income taxes say it would ultimately hurt working families. Terry Forsyth, head of the Working Kansas Alliance, says that to improve the state economy, the governor should focus more on legislation that would directly grow jobs. Forsyth says the governor’s tax proposal would actually increase taxes paid by low-wage workers.

Governor Brownback has said his proposal will help boost job growth and includes more money for programs like Medicaid that help low-income Kansans. Brownback is appearing at an event this (WED) afternoon touting his tax plan.
