The chairman of the board that oversees the Kansas higher education system has abruptly resigned. Kansas Board of Regents Chairman Gary Sherrer made the decision public today (WED). Sherrer made his announcement at the start of the board's monthly meeting, then walked out. Sherrer told reporters that conflicts with other board members led to his resignation. He said the board refused to let him lead the search for a new president for Emporia State University.
Sherrer’s term would have expired at the end of June. The president of Emporia State resigned earlier this month.
