Composer Adam Schoenberg has a strong relationship with the Kansas City Symphony, having honed his craft at writing for orchestra with the ensemble. The new album conducted by Michael Stern features three of Schoenberg's pieces, all of which have connections to the musicians involved. Michael Keelan talks with him about it, and the artworks which inspired two of the pieces. The premiere of Schoenberg's Symphony No. 2 is on March 18 at the Kauffman Center, with the University of Texas-Austin Wind Ensemble.
