Evergy Asks Customers to Conserve Energy; Record-Setting Cold May Affect Midwest Power Supply

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has issued a State of Disaster Emergency due to wind chill warnings and the stress placed on power companies. Record-setting cold temperatures are putting a strain on utilities across the Midwest. Evergy is asking customers to conserve electricity use as much as possible through Wednesday (February 17) to avoid potential power outages.

It's Bitter Cold! State Parks Officials Remind Kansans How to Stay Safe Outdoors

For anyone planning to recreate in the great outdoors this winter, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) is offering tips on how to stay safe. Despite fridgid conditions, many hunters, fishers and hikers will venture outside to enjoy nature and KDWPT officials have some advice.
