New Evidence to be Released in Great Bend 2002 Double Homicide
GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSN/KPR) - Investigators say they have new evidence in a cold case double homicide in Great Bend. KNS reports that 24-year-old Mandy Alexander was working and 79-year-old Mary Drake was a customer at the Dolly Madison bakery where their bodies were found on September 4th, 2002. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Great Bend Police Department are holding a joint news conference Tuesday about new evidence in the cold case. The KBI lists a $17,000 reward for an arrest and conviction in the case.

Topeka Police Investigate Shooting at Site of Fatal Shooting
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting at a house where a homicide took place earlier this week.WIBW reports that a person suffering a gunshot wound was hospitalized early Saturday in stable condition. Police are investigating to determine if the shooting is connected to the fatal shooting of 24-year-old KeShawn Ivy Thursday morning.

Lawrence Policeman Arrested for Suspected DUI
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KPR) - An off-duty detective for the Lawrence Police Department was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. In a news release, the Lawrence Police Department reports that Adam Smith was taken into custody after police were called to the scene of an accident early Saturday morning, where Smith allegedly crashed his personal vehicle into a parked car. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is in charge of the investigation. Welch has been placed on paid administrative leave.

KSU Inaugurates New President
MANHATTAN, Kan. (KPR) - Kansas State University has inaugurated its 15th president. Richard Linton was formally inaugurated Friday afternoon at KSU's McCain Auditorium, with Governor Laura Kelly and many state, university, and community leaders in attendance. The inauguration came nine months after the announcement of Linton as Kansas State University's new president, following the retirement of former president Richard B. Myers.
