Kansas Pilot Arrested after Landing Plane on I-70
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (AP/KPR) - A Johnson County man was charged after landing a small aircraft early Friday on Interstate 70 southeast of Kansas City. KCTV reports that 35-year-old John Seesing of Prairie Village was arrested for suspicion of being intoxicated on drugs and alcohol, and possession of a firearm, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. The landing closed westbound lanes of I-70 for more than 2 1/2 hours. The Missouri State Highway Patrol tweeted that the plane had a "minor collision" with a guardrail but otherwise did not hit anything. Seesing was the only person on board and suffered minor injuries. The Highway Patrol says he had radioed that he was out of fuel and needed to make an emergency landing. The Missouri Highway Patrol, the FAA, and that National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
