News release from Wichita State University:

WSU Starting First Muslim Greek Organization in Kansas

Wichita State University will soon start the first Muslim Greek organization in the state of Kansas.  Starting this summer, Mu Delta Alpha Sorority Inc., started in 2014 at the University of Dallas, will expand to WSU.  Since 2016, Wichita State University has been home to an interest-group for a Muslim sorority.  Founded in 2017, Muslimahs 4 Change (M4C) has been a recognized student organization that believes in empowering women without comprising their diverse identities. Now the women of Muslimahs 4 Change will start working toward becoming a fully established sorority chapter, called Mu Delta Alpha Sorority Inc.  Coining the term “Warrior Women,” M4C has planned successful events such as World Hijab Day, a self-defense class for women, and a collaboration with Student Activities Council to bring spoken word artist, Amal Kassir, to campus. Most recently, M4C partnered with the Muslim Student Association to host a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Christchurch Mosque attack in New Zealand.

This organization will join Wichita State’s thriving fraternity and sorority community of 22 organizations and 950-plus students.  The community currently averages a 3.156 GPA and raised over $115,000 for various philanthropic causes in 2018. Members have also completed over 30,000 hours of community service in the past year and continue to take great pride in being agents in campus traditions.
