Cities and Suburbs Snub Tyson Chicken Business, But Rural Kansas Sets Lower Bar to Attract New Jobs

Last year, when Tyson Foods tried to bring a new chicken processing plant to Tonganoxie, Kansas... the blowback came fast and loud.  At a town hall meeting too big to be held inside, area lawmakers told a crowd of two-thousand-plus, their voices had been heard.  


The project was scrapped.  But as Brian Grimmett of the Kansas News Service reports, other communities are hoping the poultry industry hasn’t been scared off.
