Two Kansas members of Congress are raising concerns about the appointments process at Topeka’s Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center. Senator Jerry Moran and 2nd District Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins – both Republicans – say their offices have been fielding complaints from veterans about long-standing appointments being cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute.
A spokesman for the medical center said he was unaware of the concerns but promised they would be investigated. The Topeka hospital has not been implicated in the “waiting list” scandal unfolding at other VA facilities across the country, including those in Wichita and Kansas City. But Moran said the regular bumping of appointments at the Topeka hospital raises similar concerns.
