A long-range plan to fund the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch in Sedgwick County has died in a Kansas House committee. Yesterday's (TUES) action by the House Corrections and Juvenile Justice Committee leaves the future of the struggling juvenile home in doubt. County commisioners say the struggling facility will close at the end of the June unless the state provides more money for it. The ranch nearly closed last year before the state provided an additional $750,000 to keep it open. The facility currently serves 32 boys.
