Members of a political action committee want more women to seek political office in Kansas. Laurel Maslowski of Lawrence is one of five women who founded the PAC, called Kansans Advancing Women. She says the state has a strong history of electing women to political office, but only 39 of the 165 people in the Kansas Legislature last session were women. That's the lowest number in 15 years.
Two women are already seeking high-profile political offices in the Kansas 2014 elections. Jean Schodorf is challenging Kris Kobach for Secretary of State and Jill Docking is running for Lieutenant Governor on Representative Paul Davis's gubernatorial ticket.
