Goodyear Management, Union Reaches Tentative Deal
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Union officials have announced a tentative agreement with management at the Topeka Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant. Robert Tripp, president of United Steelworkers Local 307, tells the Capital-Journal the union isn't releasing details about the proposed contract until the members voted on whether to approve it. The Topeka plant employs 1,550 workers, with 1,400 covered by the USW.

Drop in Voter Registrations on Hold
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas saw a sharp drop over the past week in the number of prospective voters whose registrations were on hold for failing to present proof of their U.S. citizenship to election officials. The secretary of state's office says such registrations on hold peaked at about 18,500 on Monday. By Friday, the number had fallen to fewer than 17,200. The decline was about 7 percent. The decrease came after a move by the state Department of Revenue.

KDOT, Pitt State Partner on Solar Light Project
PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Department of Transportation and Pittsburg State University are teaming up to install solar powered pavement lights at two intersections in southeast Kansas. KOAM reports the lights are part of a pilot program. KDOT says the 600 solar powered LED pavement lights will glow white or yellow, helping drivers tell the difference between two interchanges.
