Many Kansas schools are waiting to receive money from the government that pays tuition for members of the U.S. military. Fort Hays State University, for example, is waiting on hundreds of thousands of dollars. Edward Hammond, the FHSU president, says he isn't worried that the school won't get paid back:
Hammond says that normally, the school's accounting systems would cancel someone's enrollment for non-payment, but the university has made the decision to protect military students' enrollment statuses.
