Crowd Expected at Restaurant Destroyed by Gas Leak
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Former employees and customers of a Kansas City restaurant destroyed six months ago from a deadly gas leak will gather this weekend at JJ's old site. The Kansas City Star reports that today's (SUN) party near the Country Club Plaza entertainment area is expected to draw more than 1,000 people.

MGP Stockholders' Meeting Postponed
ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) — MGP Ingredients has postponed its annual stockholders meeting amid a call for new leadership. KMAN reports that the meeting was scheduled for Friday in Atchison, where MPG is based. The company makes starches, proteins and food-grade alcohol from grains. But on Thursday, the Kansas Court of Appeals granted the company's request to temporarily stop the meeting from happening. Some stockholders didn't get word in time and showed up at the meeting only to see a posted noted notifying them of the cancellation.

PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) — Pittsburg State University is getting closer to snuffing out smoking. The Joplin Globe reports that President Steve Scott says there's "clearly an interest" in accepting a task force recommendation that the campus go tobacco free.

Father, Son Rescued from Lake
OLATHE, Kan. (AP) — A father and his 2-year-old son have been rescued from a Johnson County lake. The Kansas City Star reports that the toddler fell out of boat Friday morning while fishing with his father. Captain Eric Barnum of the Olathe Fire Department says the father and son were unhurt after being pulled from the lake.
