Hawker Beechcraft Announces More Layoffs
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Hawker Beechcraft has announced layoffs for the second time in three weeks, this time affecting 150 employees at its Wichita aircraft plant. The Wichita Eagle reports the latest cuts will reduce the aircraft maker's total employment in Wichita to 4,200 people. The company says the 60-day notices were issued yesterday (FRI).

Three Killed in Small Plane Crash
CHANUTE, Kan. (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board says three people have died in the crash of a small plane in southeastern Kansas. NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson (kuh-NOOD'-suhn) says five people were aboard the twin-engine Cessna 401 when it went down yesterday (FRI) afternoon northwest of Chanute.

23 Charged in Gang Crackdown
DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) — U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom announced racketeering and other charges yesterday (FRI) against 23 members of the Nortenos gang in Dodge City, including 22 who are first- or second-generation citizens. Four of the men are charged with murder in the 2009 slaying of Israel Peralta and attempted murder of three other men who were with Peralta when he was shot to death.
