Film Music Friday - May 22, 2020 (Shakespeare in Film)

Brush up your Shakespeare on tonight's edition of Film Music Friday!  We'll hear music from various films based on or inspired by the works of William Shakespeare, including excerpts from both the 1944 and 1989 adaptations of Henry V, Russian productions of Hamlet (with music by Dimitri Shostakovich) and Othello (featuring a score composed by Aram Khachaturian), plus Shakespeare in Love, Much Ado About Nothing and even Kiss Me, Kate.

On this week's Film Music Friday, we'll attempt the impossible -- to distill a 50+ year career of creating innovative and exciting film scores into just two hours.  Jerry Goldsmith began writing music for network radio dramas in the '50s and eventually worked in television and finally movies, where he wrote music for films like The Omen, Lonely Are the Brave, Alien, Patton, The Sand Pebbles, The Blue Max and five Star Trek films, among many others.  We'll hear excerpts from these and more on Film Music Friday.
