This week's Film Music Friday is devoted to the music of John Williams. He is arguably the most popular and influential composer of the last 100 years, with a resume that includes scores for such classic films as Star Wars, Jaws, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, E.T. the Extraterrestrial, Harry Potter, Raiders of the Lost Ark and many more. In less than two hours we'll do our best to play some of the highlights from John Williams' 50+ year career.

When Aliens Attack is the theme for this edition of Film Music Friday. Movie aliens always seem to want to enslave us, destroy us or eat us (sometimes all three). We'll hear themes from some classic alien invasion movies, including The Thing from Another World, The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds, Kronos, Alien and Mars Attacks.

In his 30+ years as a film composer Franz Waxman created music for such films as The Bride of Frankenstein, Captains Courageous, Sunset Boulevard, A Place in the Sun and many more. Along the way he was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won back-to-back Oscars in 1950 and 1951. On this week's Film Music Friday we'll hear some of the memorable movie music of Franz Waxman.
