The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra Live at Kansas Public Radio February 28, 2020

The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, a chamber quintet from Colorado, was in town for the Kansas Silent Film Festival on February 28-29. As part of the festival, they stopped by the Kansas Public Radio live performance studio with Tracey Goessel author of the definitive biography of silent film star Douglas Fairbanks, and Bill Shaffer, producer/director at KTWU TV. The group played excerpts from the scores to the silent films Leap Year and Robin Hood, which were featured at this year’s festival. 

Violinist Tessa Lark live at Kansas Public Radio February 21, 2020

Violinist Tessa Lark came to play for us Friday, February 21, 2020, and to tell us about her concert with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra the next night. Kyle Wiley Pickett, conductor with the Topeka Symphony, was also on hand. Tessa was the soloist in SKY, a Bluegrass-inspired violin concerto written for her by Michael Torke.
