Wintry Weather Hits Kansas

National Weather Service image

A Winter Weather Advisory covers much of Kansas through Monday evening, and the National Weather Service has upgraded the advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for some parts of the KPR listening area.  Wintry weather is forecast to come in two rounds, one today (Sunday) and another on Monday. The snowfall today could be moderate or heavy at times through the midday, causing roads to become snow packed and slick. In the warned area, narrow heavy bands could allow accumulations to exceed 6 inches in localized locations. Numerous vehicle accidents have occurred and travel will continue to be difficult. Snow will taper off late this afternoon with a brief break expected this evening and tonight. Another round of snow is expected tomorrow (Monday), especially south of Interstate 70. An additional 1" to 2" will be possible with tomorrow's round.  If you have to travel, be sure to slow down and drive with caution.  I
