Westar Crews Help Restore Power on East Coast

Westar Energy crews are working in Wilkes Barre ("berry"), Pennsylvania, to help restore the power. About 17,000 people there were left in the dark as Hurricane Sandy moved inland. Westar's Nick Bundy says they'll help get the power restored in Wilkes Barre and then move on to the next place where help is needed.

Bundy says its not just linemen who go into a disaster to restore service, but supervisors, safety personnel and even people to help keep the Westar trucks running.

====================

Crews from Westar Energy are helping restore the power in Wilkes Barre ("berry"), Pennsylvania, after Hurricane Sandy left damage and widespread power outages in its wake. Westar Spokesman Nick Bundy says helping out now could later benefit customers in Kansas.

Bundy says thousands of customers in northern Pennsylvania are in the dark. He says power companies from across the country are helping to get the lights and the heat back on in the East Coast region.
