It's Kansas Day! One hundred, fifty-two years ago today (TUE), Kansas became the 34th state. Commentator Cheryl Unruh has been reflecting on what it means to be a Kansan - to grow up here, to live and die in this place that relatively few Americans call home.

KPR Commentator Cheryl Unruh is the author of the book Flyoverpeople: Life on the Ground in a Rectangular State. She's also a columnist for the Emporia Gazette. You'll find this commentary on the KPR website... and you'll find more of Cheryl's work on her own website: FlyoverPeople.net.
