Undefeated ESU Hornets Football Team Facing Tough Schedule to Close Out Season

Corky, the Emporia State University mascot: accomplishing the tricky task of being simultaneously cute and tough.

The number 4-ranked Kansas State Wildcats football team is undefeated...but its accomplishments this year in the NCAA Division I have overshadowed the success of another Kansas football team. Division Two Emporia State is off to its best start since 1988 with an 8-and-0 record. But as Kansas Public Radio's Greg Echlin reports, the Hornets now face a daunting series of tests, starting with their final home game tonight (THUR):

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 o'clock tonight (THUR). The other two nationally-ranked opponents remaining on the Hornets' schedule are fifth-ranked Northwest Missouri and 16th-ranked Washburn.

ESU Football Team Hopes to Stretch Unbeaten Streak

Emporia State's football team hopes to maintain its unblemished record when the Hornets play their last home game of the season tonight (THUR). The NCAA Division Two 15th-ranked Hornets take on 12th-ranked Missouri Western. The last time the Hornets got off to an 8-0 start was in 1988, when head coach Garin Higgins played quarterback:

Kickoff tonight (THUR) at Welch Stadium is scheduled for 6 o'clock.
