Topeka Rescue Mission Continues Expansion Planning

With the extreme heat this summer, no one wants to be outside. That includes the homeless. With the Topeka Rescue Mission more than filled to the brim with those who need a cool place to stay, director Barry Feaker says the mission is continuing to work on getting a new facility.

Feaker says anyone who would like to contribute to the project can do so by contacting the Topeka Rescue Mission.

Topeka Rescue Mission Hopes to Expand

Topeka Rescue Mission director Barry Feaker says the mission needs more space. The area's recent high temperatures have underscored the need for a facility with a higher capacity. Feaker says the mission is seeking donations that will be used to reach that goal.

Feaker said the mission is working with the city on the project...but that any solution is still at least a year away.
