Sales of Grass-Fed Beef Skyrockets but the Grass Itself Is Changing

The sales of grass-fed beef have soared in recent years.  In 2012, grass-fed beef accounted for $17 million in sales.  In 2016, sales had grown to $272 million.  Fans say raising cattle as much as possible on grass, instead of bulking them up with grain at feedlots, leads to beef that’s healthier and better for the environment. Yet, that very grass may be changing in ways that’ll affect the future of grass-fed and conventional beef alike.  For Harvest Public Media, Alex Smith has more.
